The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Golf Program just finished up their 2012-2013 season at the NAIA National Championship. Although it was a tough outing at the NAIA Tournament, the Patriot ladies had a tremendous year full of accomplishments for the team and individual play. One particular Patriot played so well over the year that she has garnered some honors from the NAIA.
Patriot sophomore Liz Stephens (Tockington, Bristol UK) earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors on Monday May 21st.
Stephens shot a 313 at the 2012 NAIA National Championships last week earning a share of 34thplace overall. Including the fall season, Liz came away with three individual tournament championships on the year with all of them coming in the spring. She also earned 8 top 5 finishes on the year while helping lead the Patriots to 6 tournament victories in 2012-2013. Stephens is the first Patriot lady to earn All-American honors since Amanda Blust (Honorable Mention in 2000-2001).
Head Coach Chris Kraftick commented, "Liz had a great year overall. Her play this spring was especially good. It's exciting to have an All-American on the women's side and we look forward to adding many more in the future."
