The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Archery program continues to grow each week as Head Coach Kris Strebeck is still on the recruiting trail bringing in highly talented athletes to add to the Patriots' first roster. This past week, Strebeck added another to his upcoming roster as Ethan Gish has signed to become the newest Patriot archer.
Gish is the son of Matt and Laura Gish and hails from Henderson, Kentucky. He will graduate from Henderson County High School later in May. A highly decorated archer, Gish has been a part of three State Championship teams (2008, 2009, & 2011) and three National Championship teams (2008, 2009, & 2011). His high school also won Regional Championships in 2008, 2009, and 2011 while he finished in 2ndplace as an individual in 2011. Gish also finished in 5thplace at the National Championship in 2009 and 12thplace in 2011 as an individual.
Coach Strebeck commented, "We are excited that Ethan has chosen UC to continue his education and be a part of our first archery team. Ethan has had great success in the NASP program and he is excited about getting the opportunity to continue his archery career at UC."
The Patriot archery team at UC will begin competition in the fall of 2012 as they will compete in the US Intercollegiate Archery Championships at the Mizzou Archery Club on the campus of the University of Missouri on October 19-21st.
