The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Archery program has gotten off to a fast start for its first season as Head Coach Kris Strebeck has signed a plethora of talent for its inaugural year. Numerous regional and state champions have signed to be a part of this year's team and the Patriots have added another with the signing of Lacey Reliford.
Reliford is the daughter of Michael and Kim Reliford and hails from Somerset, Kentucky where she will graduate from Somerset High School in May. During her career, Lacey has been very successful. While shooting for 5 years now in the NASP program, she has attended numerous state and national tournaments. She also participated in the World Archery Tournament in Orlando, Florida back in 2009.
When asked about signing with UC, Reliford commented, "As I toured the beautiful campus, I received the information about the first archery team. I am much honored to be a part of this and am looking forward to it. Being able to continue my education while being a member of the first collegiate archery team is a blessing."
Coach Strebeck added, "Lacey is going to be a great asset to our team. Her work ethic along with her attitude will bring a positive influence to our team. We are excited about her becoming the newest member of the Patriot archery program."
The archery team at UC will begin competition in the fall of 2012 as they will compete in the US Intercollegiate Archery Championships at Hocking College in Nelsonville, OH on October 19-21st.
