The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Golf program is working towards their goal of a NAIA National Championship.  Last week, the Patriot ladies won the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championship in convincing fashion by 43 strokes over rival Lindsey Wilson College, their first MSC Championship Tournament win since 2003-2004.  The play of one certain Patriot helped lead her team to that victory and earned herself another MSC Honor.

UC's Liz Stephens (Tockington, Bristol UK) is the Mid-South Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.  The weekly conference honor is the third of the season for Stephens.  She also earned the award on March 26 and April 9.

The Patriot sophomore earns the honor following her win at the Mid-South Conference Championships last week at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.  Stephens shot a two-day total of 154 (81-73) to capture the tournament by eight strokes over her closest competitor and teammate McKinzie Price.

The win secured the MSC Women's Golfer of the Year award for Stephens.  The golfer of the year award goes to the golfer with the lowest stroke total in four of the six conference rounds throughout the season.  Stephens helped the Patriots capture the MSC Tournament title and the conference's automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament.

The NAIA National Tournament will be held on May 15th-18that Link Hills Country Club in Greenville, Tennessee.
