The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Track and Field program competed this past weekend at the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Tournament being held at Shorter University in Rome, GA.  The Patriots finished in 2nd place just behind MSC Champion Shorter University.   

For the track competitors, sophomore Ioni Christian finished in 8th place in the 100 Meter dash with a time of 13.36.  Quanisha McFadden (Lima, OH) also came away with an 8th place finish in the 200 Meter dash with a time of 26.50.  In the 800 Meter run, UC was represented well with two finishing in the top 5.  Darcy Mascotti (Bellbrook, OH) finished 2nd with a time of 2:17.61 while freshman Danielle Hoop (Owenton, KY) finished in 5th place with a time of 2:20.47.  In the 1,500 Meter run, three Cumberlands competitors finished in the top 10 with Darcy Mascotti leading the way with a 2nd place finish with a time of 4:49.12.  Hoop followed Mascotti with a 3rd place finish at a time of 4:52.83.  Audrey Springer (Pataskala, OH) finished in 9th place with a time of 5:27.73. 

In the long distance events, the Patriots were well represented with two finishing in the top 5 in the 5,000 Meter run.  Darcy Mascotti finished in 2nd place with a time of 18:55.06 while Lauren Kachel (Pickerington, OH) followed in 3rd place with a time of 19:16.30.  In the 10,000 Meter run, Kachel earned another 3rd place finish with a time of 38:41.53.  In the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase event, Kachel had another impressive finish in 2nd place with a time of 11:59.97.  Christine Moon (Sardinia, OH) also had a good showing with a 5th place finish with a time of 12:32.61.  In the 5,000 meter race walk event, Ashley Campos (Houston, TX) finished 4th with a time of 35:24.48. 

In the 4x100 Meter Relay, the Patriots team consisting of McFadden, Christian, Natasha Sydnor (Elizabethtown, KY), and Jennifer Marcum (Springsboro, OH) finished in 7th place with a time of 52.04.  The Patriots did a little better in the 4x400 Meter Relay finishing in 5th place with a time of 4:10.43.  That relay team consisted of Sydnor, Janada Acree (Cadiz, KY), Hoop, and McFadden.  UC improved their finishes in the relay events as they finished in 3rd place in the 4x800 Meter Relay event with a time of 9:40.64.  That team consisted of Sydnor, Hoop, Springer, and Mascotti. 

In the field events, Janada Acree finished tied for 3rd place in the high jump event with a height of 1.52 meters.  A conference win came for UC in the pole vault event.  Rachelle Spurlock (Dayton, OH) took first place with a height of 2.90 meters.  In the long jump event, Acree finished in 4th place with a jump of 5.25 meters.  Lawna Meade-Rivera (Sevierville, TN) earned a 2nd place finish in the shot put event with a throw of 10.00 meters.  Taylor Mayes (Knoxville, TN) followed Meade-Rivera in 5th place with a throw of 11.18 meters. 

Senior Rebecca Holcomb (Blanchester, OH) also finished in the top 10 in 8th place with a throw of 10.96 meters.  Meade-Rivera followed her shot put with a 3rd place finish in the discus throw with a distance of 35.93 meters.  Holcomb also earned another top 10 finish in 8th place with a discus throw of 33.17 meters.  Meade-Rivera and Holcomb earned a 5th and 6th place finish respectively in the hammer throw event.  Meade-Rivera finished with a throw of 35.92 meters while Holcomb threw 34.74 meters.  Acree also earned 3rd place in the Heptathlon event earning 3,817 points.  Spurlock finished 10th in the Heptathlon event earning 2,218 points. 

Select Patriots will be back in action on May 24th-26th to compete at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Marion, Indiana.
