On Friday, April 20th, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) men's tennis team traveled to Lexington, KY to compete in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) tournament. The Patriots battled hard in first round play, but fell to the Tigers of Georgetown College 6-3 in the quarterfinals. 

Winners for the Patriots include number one seed Juanjo de la Llera (Spain) as he defeated Benjamin Aspillaga in a stellar performance 6-3, 6-0 in singles action.  Tyler Smith (Central City, KY) defeated Carlos Del Valle in a heated match 6-3, 0-6, 1-0. In doubles action, de la Llera and partner Danilo Garcia (Quito, Ecuador) defeated Aspillaga and partner Jose Baeza 8-6.

Head Coach Chin Tan commented, "The team fought hard and earned a top four ranking in the conference.  We started four freshmen and all of them clocked many minutes of playing time.  Furthermore, their attitudes are one that is very coachable and hungry for success."

The Patriots finish the 2011-2012 season with a record of 6-13 and 3-3 in conference play.
