The University of the Cumberlands (UC) athletics programs is running in full stride this year, but many sports are already working to revamp their rosters for the upcoming season.  One young lady will be looking to help out two sports at UC as Brianna Messmer has signed to both the softball program as well as the new archery program for the Patriots.

Messmer is the daughter of Miranda Messmer and BlenBhails from Cadiz, Kentucky. Currently, she attends Trigg County High School.  Her archery team won the State Championship as well as the National Championship in 2010.

Messmer said, "I am very excited to get to know the players and archers more.  The school fits right for me, not too big and not too small.  Coach Strebeck and Coach Dean made me feel welcome to the school when I visited and worked out with the team.  I'm really glad that they will be my coaches for the next four years."

Archery Head Coach Kris Strebeck commented, "Brianna comes from a very successful high school archery program.  They have won at the state and regional levels, and even competed at the national and world levels.  She is an experienced archer and a good student.  She will fit in great with our team."

Softball Head Coach Angie Dean added, "We are very excited about signing Brianna.  She has strong catching skills along with a great catcher's pop time.  I think she will be a great addition to the softball program as well as the archery team."
