The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Golf program has started off the spring consistently.  Two 3rdplace finishes have the Patriots in position to make a big impact on the NAIA Top 25 polls as well as turn some heads throughout the country.  The play of one particular Patriot this past week earned the attention of the Mid-South Conference (MSC) as she earned a conference honor.

Laura Beth Harris (Glasgow, KY) was named the Mid-South Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the week of March 19th.  This is her first MSC award of the season and the third for her career.  She earned her other two golfer of the week awards last season.

Harris finished tied for seventh place at last week's Lee University Spring Invitational at Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tenn.  She shot a two-day total of 165 (85-80) to finish seven shots off the winning score. Following an opening round 85, Harris shot the eighth best round of the day to climb into the top-10 in the 39-woman field.

Laura Beth led the No. 13-ranked Patriots to a third place finish with a team total of 665 (338-327).  UC finished behind No. 2-ranked and host Lee and No. 7-ranked Shorter University.

The next women's golfer of the week award is scheduled to be announced on Monday, March 26.
