The University of the Cumberlands (UC) has always taken pride in its athletic programs in their ability to produce on the field as well as in the classroom. The NAIA has released its list of NAIA Scholar Athletes for the 2011-2012 year. This year, the Patriots swim team has inked another name on that list as women's swimmer Callie Ethington (Bardstown, KY) was the sole Patriot to make the cut. 

For a team member to be considered for an NAIA Scholar Athlete award, they must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution, as well as achieved junior academic status.

Currently, the Patriot swim teams are competing in the NAIA Nationals in Oklahoma City, OK.
