University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's Basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of Roane State Community College women's basketball player Jill Herman.

"She's an all-around student-athlete who excels academically and on the court," University of the Cumberlands head coach Melissa Irvin said. "She's our type of player: smart, handles the ball well and is a tremendous scorer."

Herman, a 6-0 guard from Powell High School, is averaging 16.7 points, 4.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Raiderettes. A dean's list student, Herman was named All-Academic by the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA).

"I love how disciplined they [UC] are," Herman said. "Whenever things get rough, they stick to their game plan, and I like that. I'm ready to try and get a national championship ring."

UC captured the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Regular Season title on Saturday finishing the season off with an impressive 25-3 overall record and a 14-2 conference record.

The Patriot ladies can cross one goal off their list this season as they move one step closer to their goal of "Working for Tuesday", as they will travel to Frankfort, Kentucky for the Mid-South Conference Tournament.  The Patriots will hold the #1 seed in the tournament and begin play on Thursday in the first round game against either Pikeville or UVA-Wise at 2:00 pm.
