On Saturday, February 4, 2012, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriots swim team traveled to Lexington, KY to take on Transylvania University. Both teams prevailed as they swam past the Pioneers, with the men winning 129-119, and the women 115-104.  

First place winners for the Patriots included:

• Women's 400 Medley Relay (4:18.32) –Allison Greenwell (Louisville, KY), Melissa Peplinski (Spokane Valley, WA), Callie Ethington (Bardstown, KY), Lizzy Horn (Wheat Ridge, CO)
• Men's 400 Medley Relay (3:45.78) –Joe Brinkman (Commerce Township, MI), Clay Cyrus (Morehead, KY), Wes Miller (Largo, FL), Kyle Marsh (Spokane Valley, WA)
• Katie Osborne (Lexington, KY) -1000 Free Relay (11:51.59)
• Charlotte Parent (Braine-l'allaud, Belgium) –50 Back (28.38), 100 Back (1:00.01), 50 Fly (26.40)
• Jared McPherson (Kingston, TN) –50 Free (22.84)
• Elizabeth Davis (Van Wert, OH) –1 Meter Dive
• Wes Miller (Largo, FL) –100 Back (53.41), 50 Fly (24.11)
• Sam Huntley (Littleton, CO) –100 Breast (1:01.47)
• John Leistner (Ashland, KY) –500 Free (5:12.41)
• Joe Brinkman (Commerce Township, MI) –200 IM (2:04.63)

Head Coach Eric Skelly commented, "I think we had some sluggish swims today, but overall I'm pleased with the ones who competed.  We had a few people step up this meet and I'm looking forward to Senior Day next weekend."

The Patriots will be back in action this Saturday, February 11, 2012 as they host Berea College for the last regular season meet. This will be Senior Day for the swimming Patriots. Meet time is set for 1 PM.
