The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Wrestling Team has been on a great run thus far in the New Year and look to make improvement heading into the Mid-South Conference (MSC) tournament.  Once again, the Patriots are working hard to get better and one particular Patriots hard work earned him MSC Wrestler of the Week honors.

Larone Madison (Riviera Beach, FL) finished the week with a 3-0 record winning the 125 pound weight class at the Manchester College Spartan Mat Classic. The Patriot senior dominated his competition winning with a pin, a major decision and a decision en route to the title.  Madison came out strong for his team with a pin in 1:27 over Wheaton College's Tom Foy to advance to the 125-pound semifinals. In the semifinals, Madison beat Heidelberg University's Delian Schneider 16-5 in a major decision. In the finals of the Spartan Classic, Madison completely controlled his opponent on his way to victory with a 12-5 decision over North Central College's Brayan Gonzales.

"Larone dominated the competition and not only won a championship himself, but helped guide his team to a championship as well," stated Patriots Wrestling Head Coach Matt Lowers when he found out Larone had won the honor of Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Week.  This is Madison's second award of not only his career but the second this season (Dec.5).

Madison improves to 20-3 this season following his perfect week.  For more information on the men's wrestling program along with other Patriot athletics, please visit www.cumberlandspatriots.com.
