The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men & Women's Swimming team has made an impression so far this year, with over 50 times placed in the NAIA Top 20 Swimming rankings.

In the first NAIA Men's Swimming & Diving Coaches' Poll released December 6th, the Patriots Men's Swim Team are ranked 4thin the nation. They totaled 11 points, outscoring Concordia University and rival school, Union College. The Patriots Women's Swim Team tallied 6 points, placing them 5thin the first of the rankings, also ahead of Concordia University and Union College. 

UC placed 2ndat the University of the South Invitational earlier in the year. After competing in the Western Kentucky Invite the Patriots have over 30 times qualified for the NAIA National Championships. 

"We are very excited about the first rankings," said Head Coach Eric Skelly.  "We still have a lot to accomplish; however, this gives us a great starting point as we move towards Nationals."

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches from the NAIA Swimming & Diving Coaches Association. The second poll will be released on Jan. 31, 2012.
