
This past week, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriots volleyball team hosted St. Catharine College. The Patriots dominated in every facet sweeping St. Catharine in three straight sets (25-17,25-21,25-21).
This victory was a great way to end the season for a group of wonderful young ladies. The volleyball team also recognized their four senior Patriots, Courtney Fout (Miamisburg, OH), Alana Abbott (Lebanon, OH), Brittany Weinheimer (Liberty Township, OH), and Michelle Papas (Crestview Hills, KY).
Sophomore Megan Schulte (Beavercreek, OH) led the Patriots with a total of eight kills while freshman Stacey Sebald (Cincinnati, OH) added seven kills and sophomore Cassie Kalman (Beavercreek, OH) followed close behind with six kills.
Senior Brittany Weinheimer had an impressive 17 assists to showcase her talent as a senior Patriot. Following close behind sophomore Abby Dundon (Lexington, KY) added 14 total assists. Junior Chelsea Hendrix (Seymour, IN) contributed 18 digs to the outstanding Patriot victory over St. Catharine College.
The ladies ended their tremendous regular season with a record of 18-9 and a conference record of 6-6. The Patriots look forward to extending their season at the Mid-South Conference Tournament this weekend playing the #4 seed University of Rio Grande in the quarterfinals Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The conference tournament will be held at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, KY.
