The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's swim and dive team traveled to Sewanee, Tennessee on November 4thand 5thto compete in the 11thAnnual Sewanee Invitational. The Patriots raced against 10 teams and placed 2ndoverall in both the men and women's categories. The women added 622 points to their score, behind Sewanee's 793 while the men scored 697.5 points overall. 

Winners for the Patriots include:

  • Women's 100 Medley Relay (52.92) – Lizzy Horn (Wheat Ridge, CO), Melissa Peplinski (Spokane Valley, WA), Hanna Wright (Corbin, KY), Julia Maxie (Gainesville, GA)
  • Women's 200 Medley Relay (1:55.12) – Lizzy Horn (Wheat Ridge, CO), Melissa Peplinski (Spokane Valley, WA), Hanna Wright (Corbin, KY), Julia Maxie (Gainesville, GA)
  • Men's 100 Medley Relay (46.46) – Wes Miller (Largo, FL), Jake Wood (Cicero, IN), Sam Hoeferle (Cicero, IN), Jared McPherson (Kingston, TN)
  • Julia Maxie (Gainesville, GA) – 200 Free (2:00.83); 500 Free (5:26.27)
  • Lizzy Horn (Wheat Ridge, CO) – 100 Back (1:03.11); 200 Back (2:16.82)
  • Zach Johnson (Ashland, KY)– 50 Back (25.66)
  • Melissa Peplinski (Spokane Valley, WA) – 50 Breast (31.47)
  • Joe Brinkman (Commerce Township, MI) – 400 IM (4:26.45), 200 Back (2:01.48)
  • Wes Miller (Largo, FL) – 100 Free (48.96)
  • Sam Huntley (Littleton, CO) – 500 Free (4.56.91)
  • Sam Hoeferle (Cicero, IN) – 100 Fly (54.39)
  • Women's 200 Free Relay (1:46.59) - Callie Ethington (Bardstown, KY), Allison Greenwell (Louisville, KY), Hanna Wright (Corbin, KY), Julia Maxie (Gainesville, GA)
  • Men's 100 Free Relay (3:22.51) – Jimmy Hall (Barbourville, KY), Sam Huntley (Littleton, CO), Joe Brinkman (Commerce Township, MI), Zach Johnson (Ashland, KY)
 

The Patriots are in the middle of their season now, as they are stepping up the training and intensity. "I thought we swam well given how hard we have been working lately. I'm excited to see where go from here," Head Coach Eric Skelly commented on the Sewanee Invite.

UC added five more NAIA National qualifications in Lizzy Horn (Wheat Ridge, CO) - 400 IM, Melissa Peplinski (Spokane Valley, WA)- 50 Free, Joe Brinkman (Commerce Township, MI) – 200 Back, Wes Miller (Largo, FL) – 100 Free, and Julia Maxie (Gainesville, GA) – 500 Free.

The Patriots next competition will be in Bristol, TN where they will compete in a dual meet with King and Milligan College.
