The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball team is having one of its most successful seasons to date.  This past week the Patriot ladies had a tough slate of games, but finished strong with a 2-1 record.  The Patriots did fall to Mid-South Conference (MSC) foe Georgetown College on Monday, but came back with a big MSC win over Campbellsville on Wednesday and Virginia Intermont on Thursday.

On Monday, the Patriots traveled to Georgetown to take on the Tigers.  The ladies just could not get any momentum in the game and fell to Georgetown by a score of 3-0 with scores of 19-25, 21-25, 19-25.  Freshman Holly Bronner (Cincinnati, OH) and junior Mariah Gray (Goshen, OH) led the team with 5 kills each.  Senior Brittany Weinheimer (Liberty Township, OH) racked up 11 assists in the match while sophomore Abby Dundon (Lexington, KY) tallied 8 assists.  Chelsea Hendrix (Seymour, IN) accumulated 22 digs for the Patriots while Bronner also came up with 12 digs in the match.

The Patriot ladies encouraged all fans to come out and support them against Campbellsville as they did their "white out game".  Both teams went back to back in matches, giving their all in every point, but in the end the Patriots didn't back down and upended the Tigers in five sets 3-2 with scores of 25-20, 12-25, 19-25, 25-18, and 15-10.  This game was a very special win for the girls and to Coach Clemenz, making it the first win against Campbellsville since 2005.  Sophomore Cassie Kalman (Beavercreek, OH) stood out right away by tallying up 9 kills for the match.  Freshman Stacey Sebald (Cincinnati, OH) also racked up 7 kills.  Brittany Weinheimer and Abby Dundon had 13 assists each in the match.  Chelsea Hendrix and Kelsey Dew (Clinton, TN) had outstanding performances with Hendrix tallying 21 digs and Dew adding another 13 in the win.

On Thursday, the Patriots traveled to take on the Virginia Intermont Cobras. The Patriots went into the match determined and came away with a 3-1 victory with scores being 18-25, 25-21, 25-14 and 25-16.  Stacey Sebald finished with a team high 10 kills while Cassie Kalman followed with 9 kills.  Brittany Weinheimer tallied up an impressive 22 assists.  Chelsea Hendrix led the back line with 17 defensive digs.

The Patriots will continue their season on November 1stagainst St. Catherine at home; this will also be senior night. This match is the final match before the MSC tournaments take place in Frankfort, KY on November 4-6th.
