The University of the Cumberlands(UC)volleyball team went into the week looking to knock off the perennial powerhouse in the Mid-South Conference(MSC)this year in Lindsey Wilson before hitting the road for a doubleheader on Saturday.  The Patriots were unable to derail the Blue Raiders, but did pick up two wins on Saturday as they took down Notre Dame College and Central State University. 

The Patriot ladies hosted Lindsey Wilson College on Tuesday October 18th.  UC took the first set from the Blue Raiders and continued to compete, but came up short losing to Lindsey Wilson 3-1 by scores of 25-21,16-25,26-28,18-25.  Freshmen Holly Bronner (Cincinnati, OH) and Stacey Sebald (Cincinnati, OH) each racked up 12 kills in the match.  Bronner also came away with 16 defensive digs while junior Chelsea Hendrix (Seymour, IN) followed closely behind with 15 digs.  Sophomore Abby Dundon (Lexington, KY) led the way for the Patriots with 21 assists while senior Brittany Weinheimer (Liberty Township, OH) followed with 17 assists. 

The Patriot ladies then hit the road on Saturday as they competed in a tri-match with Notre Dame College(NDC)and Central State University.  UC's first opposition of the day was Notre Dame and the Patriots had to fight hard to come away with a win taking down NDC 3-1 by scores of 15-25, 25-22, 25-20, 26-24.  Sophomore Kelsey Eastham (Urbana, OH) led the team with 14 kills while Stacey Sebald followed with 12 kills.  Abby Dundon tallied an impressive 29 assists in the match while Brittany Weinheimer followed with 19 assists.  Chelsea Hendrix was a defensive nightmare as she racked up 14 digs in the match. 

The Patriots then took on Central State Universityand werenever challenged in this match taking the win 3-0 by scores of 25-9, 25-3, 25-6.  Junior Mariah Gray (Goshen, OH) led the Patriots with 10 kills while Stacey Sebald and sophomore Cassie Kalman (Beavercreek, OH) both had 8 kills each.  Chelsea Hendrix added greatly with an impressive 12 digs.  Brittany Weinheimer stayed busy as she accumulated 20 assists in the match. 

The Patriots will host Campbellsville University on Wednesday, October 26th.  They travel to Virginia Intermont College on Thursday, October 27.
