
This past week, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriot Volleyball team started a tough week of play out with a loss to Trevecca Nazarene University on Tuesday, but finished the week out strong with two big wins over West Virginia Institute of Technology and University of Virginia at Wise, a big conference win.
The Patriots first hosted Trevecca Nazarene University at home on Tuesday, October 11th. Freshmen Holly Bronner (Cincinnati, OH) was able to accumulate 15 kills while freshman Stacey Sebald (Cincinnatti, OH) was right behind her with 12. Junior Chelsea Hendrix (Seymour, IN) was able to add an impressive 29 digs. Despite their tremendous efforts, the Patriots fell to Trevecca 2-3 in a tough, five-set match (25-18,18-25,25-22,21-25,12-15).
The Patriots bounced back this weekend as they came out on top against West Virginia Institute of Technology on Friday, October 14th. Freshman Stacey Sebald was able to slam down an impressive 16 kills. Along with Sebald, sophomore Cassie Kalman (Beavercreek, OH) had 8 kills in the victory. This 3-0 victory had set scores of (25-12,25-10,17-25,25-22).
Saturday, October 15th, the Patriots traveled to Wise, VA to take on UVA-Wise. Sophomore Cassie Kalman led the team with 9 kills while following close behind was freshman Stacey Sebald with a total of 7 kills and sophomore Abby Dundon (Lexington,KY) with 6 kills. The Patriots put away the match 3-0 in three quick sets (25-22,25-21,25-17).
The Patriots have a season record of 13-7 while going 5-4 in Mid-South Conference play. The Patriots will travel later on this week to take on Notre Dame College and Central State University in a tri-match on Saturday, October 22nd.
