The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Soccer Team is in the middle of their 2011-2012 season and currently holds a 4-4-1 record on the year.  The Patriots look to improve in the 2^ndhalf of the season behind Coach Brenton Benware and with the help of goalkeeper Taylor Higgs (Lexington, KY).  Higgs was recently named the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 2^ndfor his efforts this far on the season.     

This is Higgs' first honor of the season as the MSC Player of the Week.  Last week, Higgs was able to record a big shutout against NAIA #24 Reinhardt University (GA) in a 2-0 victory for the Patriots.  Higgs only tallied up 1 save in the game, but the Patriot defense did a fantastic job keeping the Eagles from getting shots on goal holding them to 12 shots and 2 being on goal. 

On the season, Higgs hold a1.59 goals against average per game recording 18 saves on the season and allowing just 7 goals in 6 games.  He also has the one shutout on his record as well. 

The UC Men's soccer team will be in action on Saturday October 8^that the University of Pikeville at 8:00 pm.
