The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Cross Country Teams traveled to Louisville, Kentucky this past weekend to compete in the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic.
The Cumberland men competed in the 8k event while the women's team competed in the 5k event. Both the men and women's teams had runners in two races this weekend due to the fact that the meet was so large. The men's blue team finished 15th out of 33 schools and the women's blue team finished 19th out of 32 teams. The men's silver team placed 30th out of 35 teams and the women's silver team finished 30th out of 32 teams.
Competing in the men's blue 8k team the first man to cross the line was Cory Kleinjan (Taylorsville, KY) who ran a time of 25:40 and finished 26th overall. Closely behind Cory was Landon Hamilton (Andover, OH) who finished in 32nd place with a time of 25:47. Next up for the Patriots was Daniel Thurston (Frankfort, KY) who finished with a time of 26:22 and came in a strong 93rd place. Following Thurston was Donald Whyte (Miamisburg, OH) who finished in 133rd place with a time of 26:41. Andreas Lopez (Calistoga, CA) finished with a strong time of 27:29 in 207th place. Finishing out the men's blue team was Ben Rawe (Melbourne, KY) who ran a 27:42 for the 8k event and finished in 220th place overall. The men's blue team finished 15th out of 33 teams with 431 points.
In the men's 8k silver team the first man to cross the line for the Patriots was Aaron Harrison (Courtland, OH) who finished with a time of 28:49 in 145th place. Next up for the men was Devin Edwards (Corbin, KY) who ran a 29:43 finishing in 177th place followed very closely by teammate Patrick Partin (Powell, TN) who finished with a time of 29:50 in 181st place. Finishing next was Bradley Faulkner (Williamsburg, KY) who ran a 31:14 for a 214th place finish overall. Nathan Beyers (Haslett, MI) finished in 261st place with a time of 36:56 and rounded out the Patriot men's silver team. The silver team finished with 811 points in 30th place out of 35 teams.
Competing for the women's blue team for the 5k event and finishing first was Darcy Mascotti (Bellbrook, OH) who ran a time of 18:57 finishing 38th overall. Next up was Danielle Hoop (Owenton, KY) who finished in 50th place with a time of 19:08. Patriot runner Lauren Kachel (Pickerington, OH) finished in 74th place after running a 19:23. Next up was Shelby Gibbons (Hamersville, OH) who finished in 155th place with a finishing time of 20:16. Adreana Barrera (Dallas, TX) finished in 212th place with a time of 21:26 for the Patriots. Finishing out the ladies blue team was Meghan Swope (Hamilton, OH) who ran a 21:40 for a 221st place finish. The ladies finished in 19th place out of 32 teams with 492 points.
Finally looking at the Patriot ladies 5k silver team finishing first in 132nd place was Audrey Springer (Pataskala, OH) who a ran a 22:02. Brittany Bloyd (Louisville, KY) finished with a time of 23:19 finishing in 201st place. Next up was Ashley Campos (Houston, TX) who ran a 24:14 for a 230th place finish. Finishing next was Jasmyn Dupree who ran a time of 24:45 finishing in 238th place. Rounding out the Patriot ladies silver team was Deana Gabbard (Mt. Vernon, KY) who finished in 253rd place with a time of 27:19. The Patriot ladies silver team finished in 30th place out of 32 teams with a total of 859 points.
The Patriots Cross Country team will take a week off before traveling to Wilmington, OH for the Wilmington Invitational on October 14, 2011.
