The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Volleyball team had a busy week competing in three matches; two on the road and one at home.

The Patriots started the week by hosting Kentucky State University (KSU) on Monday, September 19th. Cumberlands swept KSU all 3 sets (25-18, 25-11, 25-22). Sophomore, Cassie Kalman (Beavercreek, OH) led the team with nine kills, while freshman Stacey Sebald (Colerain, HS) followed with eight. Senior, Brittany Weinheimer (Liberty Township, OH) was able to add 13 set assists while Abby Dundon (Lexington, KY) followed close behind with 11 assists.

Cumberlands then traveled to Mid-South Conference (MSC) rival St. Catharine College on Tuesday, September 20th going 4 sets and winning (25-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-21). Junior, Mariah Gray (Goshen, OH) and sophomore, Kelsey Eastham led the team with eight kills, while freshman, Holly Bronner (Cincinnati, OH) followed close behind with seven. Brittany Weinheimer (Liberty Township, OH) had an impressive 19 assists, while the DS of the team, Chelsea Hendrix (Seymour, IN) was able to dominate in the back row and pick up 17 digs.

The Patriots ended their week in a tough MSC match-up with Campbellsville University. Riding the momentum of their wins, the Patriots played tough with the powerful Tigers, however, in the end Campbellsville picked up the win (15-25, 21-25, 14-25). Freshman, Holly Bronner (Cincinnati, OH) led the team with eight kills. Setter, Abby Dundon added a total of 11 set assists and the Patriots DS, Chelsea Hendrix had 12 digs from the back row.

The Patriots now have a season record of 8-4 and 1-2 in the MSC. They will continue their season against Pikeville on Tuesday, September 27th at home and will then travel to Midway College on Thursday, September 29th.  The Patriots will be back at home on Saturday October 1st as they host the University of Rio Grande for a MSC match.
