The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's soccer team had an eventful week, playing exciting and close games. The Patriots faced the Milligan College Buffaloes on Wednesday, September 14th and the Cumberland University Bulldogs on Saturday, September 17th.
Cumberlands started the week with a great game against Milligan College, defeating the team 1-0. The teams were evenly matched, with each team having 21 attempted goals. The intense game went into double overtime, with Toni Dempsey (Austrailia) scoring the winning goal for UC in the last minute of the game. Goalie Brittany Gadd (Mercer, PA) had 11 saves.
The ladies next game was hard fought, but unfortunately they could not pull out a win. Danna Stringle scored the Patriots lone goal (Ontario, Canada) with a nice kick perfectly missing the Bulldogs goalkeeper. Final score for the game was game was 2-1 giving the Patriots an overall record of 2-4.
The Patriots kick off their next game on Tuesday, September 20th at 2 p.m. when they travel to Union College in Barbourville, KY.
