The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Cross Country teams traveled to Ohio this weekend to compete in the Cedarville Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio on September 17, 2011. The Cumberland men competed in the 8k event while the women's team competed in the 5k event. The men placed 3rd out of 6 teams with 65 points and the women placed 5th out of 7 teams with a total of 100 points.

The first race to compete was the women's 5k. The Patriot ladies had a strong race and were led by senior Lauren Kachel (Pickerington, OH) with a 7th place finish and a time of 19:13 finishing in 8th place behind Kachel was Danielle Hoop (Owenton, KY) who ran a time of 19:14.

Next to cross the line for the Patriots was Darcy Mascotti (Bellbrook, OH) who finished in 13th place with a time of 19:29. Finishing fourth on the team was Patriot Christine Moon (Sardinia, OH) who ran a time of 20:27 finishing in 38th place and rounding out the top five was freshman Shelby Gibbons (Hamersville, OH) who finished strong running a time of 20:33 in 43rd place.

Next across the line was Adreana Barrera (Dallas, TX) who ran a 22:08 for 76th place finished followed very closely behind by Meghan Swope (Hamilton, OH) who crossed the line for the ladies and ran a time of 22:16 for a 78th place finish. Following Meghan was junior Audrey Springer (Pataskala, OH). Audrey ran a time of 22:33 finishing in 82nd place followed by Ashley Campos (Houston, TX) who finished in 91st place after running a 23:40.

The men competed in the 8k race in Cedarville on Saturday. First to finish for the Patriot Men was Landon Hamilton (Andover, OH) who ran a time of 25:53 and finished strong for a solid 3rd place spot in the competition. Hamilton was closely followed by freshman Cory Keleinjan (Taylorsville, KY) who ran a time of 26:00 for a 5th place finish followed Aundreas Lopez (Fort Lee, VA) who raced to a 17th place finish with a time of 27:19.

Next up for the Patriots was Donald Whyte (Miamisburg, OH) who ran a 27:21 for a 19th place finish. Rounding out the top five for the Patriot men was Daniel Thurston (Frankfort, KY) who ran a 27:32 and finished in 24th place.

Next to cross the line was Ben Rawe (Melbourne, KY) who finished his race in 45th place after running a 28:26. Next up was freshman Eric Phillips (New Castle, KY) who finished in 50th place after running a final time of 28:37. Up next was Aaron Harrison (Courtland, OH) who ran a 29:51 finishing in 66th place and Patrick Partin (Powell, TN) who ran a 30:22 finishing in 70th place. Next was Devin Edwards (Corbin, KY) who finished in 76th place with a time of 31:34 and Bradley Faulkner (Williamsburg, KY) who ran a 32:28 ending in 83rd place.
