
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's soccer team competed in the Bryan College Tournament this past weekend. The Patriots fell to Bethel College 3-1 but turned around and pulled together for a win against Cedarville University 1-0.
The Patriots had a strong start in the match against Bethel with Danna Stringle (Ontario, Canada) scoring early into the first half.
Bethel tied the game in the 35th minute then continued strong in the second half with two more goals, defeating Cumberlands 3-1. Goalie Brittany Gadd (Mercer, PA) notched 11 saves as the Patriots recorded 10 shots on goal.
Cumberlands had better luck on September 10th while playing Cedarville University for the 1-0 win.
Toni Dempsey (Australia) scored the goal that won the game in the 47th minute. Gadd added 5 saves on goal to her tally as the 1-0 victory gave the Patriots their first win of the season.
The Patriots will hit the field again with a home match against Milligan College on September 14th, 2011. The game is set to start at 3 p.m.
