
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women's wrestling team traveled to Tennessee this week to compete against King College in a dual meet. The Patriots fell in a hard fought dual 28-13, but had several women perform strong against this adversity.
The Patriots began the dual at 44kg with Opelia Felipe (Rome, GA) who fought hard, but was defeated 2, 0- 6, 0 by Lisa Martinez of King College. Jessica Nguyen (Houston, TX), who wrestles in the 48kg weight class, was pinned by Emily Martin for King College's second win of the day. In the 51kg weight class Gabby Henry (Columbus, OH) helped UC score some points against King College by defeating her opponent 7-1, 6-0.
Milagros Zamora (Miami, FL) wrestled strong, but in the end fell to her competition 0-2, 3-0, 1-0. King College also took a victory at 59kg over Patriot Breisja Macera (Kissimmee, FL) and 63kg Cianah Hee (Honolulu, HI) who wrestled strong, but their challenger won the victory. Christen Paysse (Fullerton, CA) defeated her opponent in the 67kg weight class by decision 4-1, 4-0.
In the 72kg weight class Megan Agajanian (Moorpark, CA) also helped score for the Patriots by defeating her competition 0-3, 5-0, 2-1. Unfortunately, Sydney Nelson (Atlanta, GA) who wrestles 80kg, fell to her opponent as well as Lakia Henderson (Osceola, FL) who wrestles 90kg.
The Patriots will take to the mat on November 19, 2010 at the NYAC in New York, New York.
