The University of the Cumberlands women’s golf team had a very successful year as they ended their 2009-2010 season ranked 18th in the nation and had two individual participants in the 2010 NAIA National Championship Tournament. Not only though did the Patriots do well on the course, but in the classroom as well.
Whitney Blankenship (Racoon, KY) was named a 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify. 86 student-athletes have been named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Golf Scholar-Athletes.
Head Coach Chris Kraftick commented, “We are really proud of Whitney and what she has been able to do in the classroom. She’s a very hard worker, a great student, and a great example to the rest of our team. I hope she continues to do this well as well as our other athletes.”
