The University of the Cumberlands Women’s Golf team participated in the Old Bridge Spring Invitational in Danville, KY on April 18th. The one-day event ended with the University of the Cumberlands finishing with a total score of 337, earning them a third place finish over all. The Patriots top finishers for the tournament were Hannah Moore (London, KY) with a score of 82 finishing 5th overall. Katie Akins (London, KY) followed Moore with an 83 and in a tie for 6th place. Both Moore and Akins made the All-Tournament team with their outstanding performances, a career first for both ladies. In addition, Moore’s 82 were also a season and career low. Alli Burton (Corbin, KY) had a score of 85 that earned her a tie for 11th place while Brittany Napier (Manchester, KY) came in with a score of 87 and finishing tied for 13th. Kelli Garvin (Catlettsburg, KY) rounded out the top five Patriot finishers with a score of 88 and in a tie for 15th place.

"I am really excited about how our team is improving,” stated Head Patriot Golf Coach Chris Kraftick. "It seems as though these girls are getting better each time they step on the course. They have worked so hard and they are seeing the results. I am really happy for Katie and Hannah. They have given great effort and deserve All Tournament recognition. It seems like I say it after every tournament, but our freshmen just keep getting better and the future is bright for this program."

Other Patriot participants included LeAnna Hinkle (Williamsburg, KY) who concluded play with a score of 89 and in a tie for 19th place. Hinkle’s score was a career and season low for her as well.

“The girls came out and performed well as a group,” stated Assistant Patriot Golf Coach Ryan Trosper. “From 1-5 they did their part and helped us have our best team round of the year. It was especially special for Hannah Moore and for Katie Akins who earned All Tournament team honors for their performance. This was exactly what we needed to give us confidence and prepare us for the final Mid-South Conference Tournament that is coming up next week.”
