The University of the Cumberlands Women's Golf Team competed at the Wilmington Spring Invitational in Wilmington, OH on April 20th. The tournament was supposed to last two days starting on Saturday April, 19th but was postponed until Sunday, April 20th shortening the event to one day. The teams that competed in order of placement included: Otterbein College (308), Allegheny College (327), Washington & Jefferson (341), Wittenberg University (350), Baldwin-Wallace College (353), Wilmington College (400), University of the Cumberlands (408), Capital University (423), and Muskingum University (450).
In individual play sophomore Katie Akins (London, KY) tied for 27th place with a score of 94. Senior Emily Sturgill (Pineville, KY) came in at 37th place with a score of 103. Following close behind Sturgill was sophomore Margaret Warren (Claypool, IN) with a score of 104 in 38th place. Freshman Whitney Blankenship (Racoon, KY) and senior Shannon Schottelkotte scored 107 and 113, giving them 40th and 42nd place respectively.
The Patriot women golfers will tee it up next on April 22nd and 23rd, at the Bluegrass Spring Classic in Georgetown, Kentucky.
