The University of the Cumberlands Swim team met at the Cumberland Inn for a dinner banquet over the weekend to award those who went the extra mile this season.

Those who received awards include:

Meredith Dement (Chattanooga, TN) – Most Valuable Player - Female

Jorge Ospina (Tampa, FL/Venezuela) – Most Valuable Player - Male

Bethany Quinn (Birmingham, AL) – Most Improved - Female

Sean Vibert (Birmingham, AL) – Most Improved - Male

Laurie Skaggs (Tullahoma, TN) – Captain’s Award - Women, Coach’s Award, and NAIA Academic All American

Edward Von Hertsenberg (Cincinnati, OH) – Captain’s Award - Men

Carol Clayton (Woodstock, GA) – NAIA Academic All American

Andrzej Lenard (Opole, Poland) – NAIA Academic All American

In addition, two graduating seniors were recognized and congratulated by the team and coaches. They are Laurie Skaggs and Price Richardson (Corvallis, MT). To top off this special night a highlight film of the season was produced and presented by sophomore Andrzej Lenard.

The Patriot swim team finished their season at the NAIA National meet where the women finished fourth in the nation and the men fifth.
