The University of the Cumberlands Volleyball team is going full force this spring in an attempt to improve skills and form a bonded team that is sure to go far next season.

Over the weekend, the Patriot Ladies packed their gear and competed in a spring tournament hosted by Virginia Intermont College. Other teams that competed were Milligan College, Roanoke College, and UVA-Wise. The matches were played for time and UC was able to go three games in one hour, scoring 25 in two games and 15 in the third for each match. UC left the VIC gym with eight wins out of the 12 games played.

Head Coach Kara Clemenz commented, ?It was a lot of fun to play in such a well organized spring tournament. It was a great opportunity to see the team test out new skills that we have been working on during the off-season. I am really proud of the team as they have been working hard to take their game to the next level. This weekend showed me that they are ready for just that?.

The Patriot Volleyball team doesn?t plan on stopping there. The determined ladies have scheduled to host a scrimmage on Friday April 4th with Union College. The Junior Varsity team will serve the first ball at 5 PM and the Varsity team will follow at 7:00 PM. Saturday April 19th the team will pack up once again for a scrimmage at Bryan College.
