On Saturday, October 27th the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Soccer team was looking to head into the Mid-South Conference (MSC) tournament on a high note as they hosted Campbellsville University for their last MSC matchup of the regular season. Although, the Patriots held strong throughout, it was the Tigers coming out with the 3-1 victory.
Cumberlands got on the board first when Daniel Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored a goal in the eighth minute for the 1-0 early lead. The Patriots tenacious defense held the 1-0 lead until a goal by Andrew Nugent, with 19 seconds left in the first half, tied the game at one apiece.
In the second half the Patriots were unable to find the net and Campbellsville scored twice to give them the 3-1 victory. Cumberlands had 8 shots on goal throughout the game, but were only able to net one. Goalie Dwayne Tucker (Knoxville, TN) saved an additional 5 goals from being scored on the Patriots.
The Patriots 8-6-1 (5-4 MSC) head into their final game of the regular season on Tuesday, October 30th at home as they take on Milligan College starting at 3:30 pm.
